Driving:
From MD, MS, or OH, expect about an 8-hour drive. Most routes will take you through beautiful places on the way, and there are plenty of spots to stop halfway.
Flying:
Asheville has an airport which is an excellent option, but for more flexible/cheaper flights, Charlotte is also a possibility. Be warned--it takes a good 2 hours to drive from Charlotte to Asheville, but if you are thinking about renting a car anyway this could work for you.
Staying:

Some other interesting lodging options (note--we do not have any room blocks reserved at these hotels):
1. Asheville Downtown Inn and Suites has rooms available for around $150/night, located downtown about a mile from the Renaissance. Call 828-254-9661 or visit the website for reservations.
2. Hotel Indigo is a brand new, funky boutique hotel with rooms around $200/night, located in historic downtown Asheville.
3. For the budget-conscious/hostel-types, SweetPeas Hostel has shared or private rooms on the cheap, ranging from $35 to $60 per night. We have been told it's a very comfortable and clean place!
4. Since you'll be in Asheville for Labor Day Weekend, why not make a vacation out of the trip?! There are lots and lots of vacation homes nearby that you can rent out...some of our guests have already taken advantage of this option, and found furnished places here. Hello, mountain-view hot tub!
Just outside of town on Tunnel Road, you can also find a Days Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, and SpringHill Suites. Expedia.com is very useful identifying these and other usual suspects in the area.
We hope that since the wedding is the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend, you'll be able to make a plan that minimizes the need to miss work and maximizes the opportunity to enjoy the town!
